Bringing light to a dark winter's night
Wednesday 22 February, 2017
With the darkness of winter not quite behind us, we wanted to look back at one of our favourite lighting projects this year. The bright world of festive lighting and city dressing takes Field and Lawn to some of the most beautiful areas in the country, with some weird and wonderful decorations designed to light up the dark winter evenings.
We were excited to take on the challenging role, working on behalf of Blachere Illuminations, as the build engineers for the Norwich city centre Tunnel of Light in 2016. Emulating the Aurora Borealis, the project involved bringing a 45m long LED tunnel display to the historic market town. Featuring more than 5 miles of cabling and 57,400 bulbs, the LED RGB feature display was the first of its kind in Europe, and is guaranteed to lead the way in a new generation of lighting features in years to come.
Working tirelessly over the 3-night installation, our team would’ve given Santa’s Elves a run for their money! We are exceptionally proud of supporting this project and grateful to Blachere Illuminations for the opportunity to get involved. The design team done an excellent job making the feature such a national talking point. It is not every day we see a project we are involved in makes it onto BBC News!
From the go-ahead at the start of October until the dismantle in mid-January 2017, the 2016 Festive Lighting season was another record breaker for Field and Lawn. We can’t wait to see the exciting projects that come up for Christmas 2017.
